Future of Mobility, Adaptive Ecologies, and Sustainable Cities
Design Team: Lia Coleman,Yimei Hu, Danlei Huang, Meredith Binnette, Georgie Nolan ,Zack Davey, Qihang Li
Science Collaborators: Dr. Jennifer Bissonnette, Ben Gagliardi
I was a faculty lead on three consecutive Hyundai-sponsored research studios exploring topics such as the Future of Mobility, Adaptive Ecologies, and Sustainable Cities. With RISD provosts Kent Kleinman and Sarah Cunningham and three RISD faculty, I traveled to Hyundai Motor Group headquarters in Seoul, South Korea, to develop a framework for the sponsored research partnership. Our work has been instrumental in securing a four-year contract with Hyundai Motor Group and resulted in over sixteen research studios and summer projects. This collaboration allowed me to establish a Posthuman Mobility Lab exploring critical questions regarding the future of mobility, designed nature, mutuality, and viable futures.
